Availability
Rocky Bay Cove is available for exclusive hire (one booking only at a time) throughout the year. Note: In winter heavy rain may limit site access to four-wheel-drive vehicles only. ( A four-wheel-drive vehicle is available to access the site if necessary.)
The landscaped grounds provide ample space for camping. NOTE: The accessory building houses boats, kayaks, two fridges, a freezer and trestle tables for dining. The accessory building is not set up for sleeping accommodation.
Please also note because the site is available on an exclusive basis the number of visitors is limited to a maximum of 12 people (over the age of five). A gas BBQ and an outdoor wood-fired cauldron are available for cooking. A warm shower and flush toilet are on site.
There is power at the site and cell phone coverage.
As Rocky Bay Cove is a sanctuary for various species of wildlife (including nesting Blue Penguins and Brown Teal) dogs are not permitted.
NOWHERE
The hire includes access to “Nowhere”, western themed buildings on the property, including a sheriff’s office and jail, Trading Post, and Bank. Have you heard about escape rooms? THE GREAT BANK ROBBERY is an escape room challenge to bust out of the Nowhere jail and break into the Nowhere Bank to grab the gold. But it’s not as simple as saying “Stick ’em up and hand over the loot or I will shoot more holes in ya than a Swiss cheese”. You have to solve the puzzles and riddles before Sheriff Dusty Hogg returns. Sherrif Dusty recently published his Memoirs, which Dusty says is a gripping read about good and evil, crime and justice, and the heroic deeds of law enforcement in the Wild West. There’s sure to be a copy in the Sheriff’s Office for you to read.
Rocky Bay Cove Rates
- The minimum stay is two nights.
- Booking numbers are limited to a maximum of 12 people (over the age of 5).
- A booking is not confirmed until both the booking form and deposit have been received. The balance is payable no later than 21 days before the arrival date.
- There is ample parking for cars, boat trailers, campervans and caravans.
- The hire fee includes the use of all facilities and equipment.
- An additional cost is a cleaning fee which is $10 a night subject to a $50 maximum.
- A refundable bond of $250 is required. The deposit is non-refundable if a booking is cancelled within 60 days of the arrival date, but will be refunded should the time slot be booked by another group.
- A 5-person Kathmandu Retreat 3-room tent is available for hire at an additional $30 a day (see details >>>see details).
- Noise standards. Rocky Bay Cove has been developed as a Nature Zone. Loud music or fireworks is not part of that natural habitat. The use of fireworks or excessive noise is a breach of the booking conditions.
- Pets. Because of the nature of the wildlife living in the habitat, pets are not permitted. For those who require dog boarding facilities, we recommend Klipped in Whangarei. (klipped.co.nz)
- Rocky Bay Golf. A floating golf green (raft), clubs and 150 golf balls are provided. Please retrieve the golf balls. A retrieval fee of 50 cents per ball and $1 each for every lost ball may apply.
- Rubbish. Please take your rubbish with you at the end of your stay. A refuse and recycling station is located in Ngunguru. Some visitors prefer we dispose of their rubbish and we are happy to do so – a disposal fee of $40 would apply. Please dispose of food scraps in the bin provided. This will be emptied during or after your stay and fed to the farm critters (chickens, donkeys, worms) or recycled into garden compost.
- To avoid damage to the septic waste disposal system, please DO NOT dispose of sanitary products in the toilet – please use the bin provided.
- Extreme weather. Although the weather is usually good during the spring and summer months, we do provide a rescheduling service should extreme weather prevent you from staying. That means you can shift your booking dates to another available time, at no cost. Note: Rain may limit site access to four-wheel drive vehicles only. (A four-wheel drive vehicle is available to access the site if necessary.)
